Creating Libraries That
Feel Like Community
Impact Story - Public Libraries
Visibility
Community Engagement
Flexibility
Cost Savings
Today’s public libraries are community gathering spaces, event hubs, and trusted public resources serving patrons of all ages.
As programming and community expectations expand, libraries are seeking affordable ways to enhance communication, visibility, and patron experiences.
Libraries across the country are using PSI’s ecolor+ poster printer to help meet those needs in practical, highly visible ways, from transforming physical spaces to promoting events and improving communication.
During a major first-floor renovation, staff at Franklin Lakes Public Library relied heavily on the ecolor+ poster printer to help patrons navigate and experience the updated space.
“The printer has been a huge lifesaver for us. We’ve been able to have different signs for things, directions to where our Library of Things and different books are, different signage that we have for motivational things, just to lift the mood.”

At Ramsey Free Public Library, Assistant Director Jeremy Doyle described the old process simply:
“I used to have to kind of Frankenstein together my posters—11x17 here and 8.5x11 there.”
With the ecolor+ poster printer, libraries gained the ability to create professional-quality signage, calendars, and displays quickly and affordably in-house.
“The poster printer has made all of that a one-stop shop.”
That shift improved more than the workflow. It helped libraries create communication that felt more cohesive, polished, and consistent across their spaces and programs.
From Pieced Together to One-Stop Shop

Rutherford Public Library Director, Gretchen Corsilla saw a direct impact on community awareness.
“It has really made a difference in terms of our residents just being aware of what we offer.”
Libraries also emphasized the financial value of producing materials internally.
“It is so much more cost-effective than having to outsource everything.”
The ability to create materials quickly and affordably gives libraries more flexibility to promote events, communicate changes, and keep patrons connected to the resources available to them.
Helping Patrons Discover What’s Available

For many libraries, the impact extends beyond marketing.
Visual displays, murals, event signage, and promotional materials help create spaces that feel inviting and community-centered.
Jeffery Hofmann, Marketing and Special Projects Coordinator at Franklin Lakes Public Library, emphasized how important atmosphere and appearance are to the patron experience.
“We take a lot of pride in the appearance of our library.”
That attention to the environment shaped how patrons experienced the space.
“Those posters go a long way in us being able to give something to our patrons to make them feel at home.”
Libraries also rely on the printer for everyday communication, from monthly calendars and event promotion to notices during unexpected closures.
“When we’re closed unexpectedly, it’s been a huge help,” shared Ramsey Free Public Library.
Spaces That Feel Like Community

Public libraries are among the most visible and trusted spaces in a community.
Every sign, display, event poster, and visual element shapes how patrons experience those spaces.
For libraries using PSI’s ecolor+ poster printer, the impact goes beyond printing.
It’s about helping people feel informed, welcomed, and connected to the resources around them.
As libraries continue evolving into vibrant community hubs, the ability to create flexible, in-house communication tools gives staff new ways to respond quickly, serve creatively, and make their spaces feel more engaging and accessible every day.
